The Executive Office of Commerce

The Executive Office of Commerce is the principal agency of the executive branch of state government charged with promoting commerce and fostering an economic environment in which Rhode Island’s businesses can grow and prosper. 

We are tasked with oversight of multiple state departments, divisions, and quasi-governmental agencies.

The Rhode Island Commerce Corporation is the official full-service, quasi-public state agency and economic development organization for the State of Rhode Island working to create the conditions for businesses in all sectors to thrive and to improve the quality of life for Rhode Islanders by promoting the state’s long-term economic health and prosperity.

The Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation is the principal state agency tasked with overseeing business-related activities in Rhode Island. It regulates and licenses various industries, ensures compliance with state laws, and promotes fair business practices.

The Quonset Development Corporation is a quasi-state agency established as a special-purpose subsidiary of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation to develop and manage the Quonset Business Park, a statewide asset home to more than 14,000 jobs in manufacturing, offshore wind, defense and the blue economy.
